IWCF Drilling Well Control

Intro to Well Control

IWCF Level 2

The IWCF Level 2 course provides a basic understanding of the features of drilling a well and the fundamental principles involved in maintaining well control. First-time candidates must complete IWCF Level 2 before progressing further.

Drilling Well Control

IWCF Level 3

The IWCF Level 3 course is essential training for those currently working in a role that is expected to shut-in a well such as OIMs, Drilling Superintendents, Drilling Engineers, Drilling Supervisors, Toolpushers, Drillers, and Assistant Drillers.

Drilling Well Control

IWCF Level 4

The IWCF Level 4 course is essential training for those working in wellsite supervisory roles and for office-based personnel that are primarily involved in the operational decision-making process and/or well design such as Drilling Supervisor, Superintendent, Company Man, Tool Pusher, OIM, or Rig Manager.

How to book a course

  • All candidates must register with IWCF FORUM before booking an IWCF course.
    If you have not already registered as a candidate in FORUM, you can do so here.

    Once you have registered you will be given your unique Candidate Registration (CR) number.
    All candidates will be asked to supply their CR number upon booking.

  • IWCF Levels 2, 3, and 4 are designed to be sequential and first-time candidates are expected to complete Level 2 before progressing to Level 3 or 4.
    However, the training levels are also designed to be role-specific and dependent on the candidate’s work experience.

Tim Manning

Director | Instructor/Assessor | Equipment Specialist

With 43 years of Oil and Gas exploration experience, including 7 years of seismic exploration before moving on to an offshore drilling environment on Jack-up, Semi-subs, and Drillships.Tim comes from a Mechanical/Subsea Engineering background where his expertise have been called upon in auditing and inspection capacities by multinational corporations such as Total, ConocoPhillips, Maersk, BP, Cairn Energy, Eon Rhurgas and AGR to name a few. 

In 2015 he was part of the team that founded Drilling School Asia Pacific and holds the role of Director, IWCF Accredited Instructor/Assessor and Equipment Specialist, where his experience and knowledge throughout the whole spectrum of well operations is widely appreciated by candidates of all levels.
