This is a three-day course that introduces you to the ‘Oilfield’. Here at Drilling School Asia-Pacific,we believe you need to prepare in advance for your new career in the Oil Industry. By completing this course you will be well prepared for the exciting journey you are about to embark on. Your Facilitator has had 36 years in the Oil Exploration Industry from the most junior to the most senior position on an oil rig. He also has 7 years’ experience as a Drilling Instructor. You are about to invest in three very valuable days on a unique course of instruction, discussion, workshops and drilling a well on a simulator! This course will greatly assist and prepare you for what’s to come.
Day 1 – Will introduce you to ‘Life on an Oilrig (On Land and Offshore).
The importance of safety in the workplace. Safety Leadership
Introduce various types of drilling equipment and explain functions.
Basic Geology and how oil & gas are formed.
Well Planning and D.W.O.P (Drilling the well on paper).
Introduction to the Drilling Simulator (Learning the circulatory system).
Day 2 –Introduction to oil drilling.
Drill String Components and design
The Mud Pit System/Introduction to Drilling Fluids and Solids Control.
Well Bore Stability / Hydraulics
Introduction to Well Control.
Drilling Simulator workshop: Drilling ahead and taking a ‘kick’.
Wellbore security. Blow Out Preventer (BOP) and its components.
Day 3 - Drill Bits and downhole tools.
Tripping Pipe.
Ton Miles.
Jarring Operations
Downhole problems.
Drilling Simulator excercises.
